University of Cambridge, Department of Materials, Science and Metallurgy (UCam)

UCam has over 100 departments. The involved Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy of UCam is one of the leading materials science departments in the world. It was awarded the top 5*rating in the last Research Assessment Exercise. Research in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy and the Orthopaedic Research Unit covers a very wide range of materials from creating new materials to improving existing materials, sponsored by about 130 different industries and governments through out the World. The body of students represents the largest number of research students in any materials department in the UK by a significant margin. The Cambridge Centre for Medical Materials involved in the project seeks to form links with other Biomedical Groups Worldwide – both with established research teams and those that are in the initial stages of research in the field. Belonging to the worldwide leading Bonfield Group the researcher have longterm experiences in biomaterial surface technologies.
